UMG leads the pack six months in

According to Nielsen SoundScan, Universal Music Group leads the pack as the top US distributor of albums and track-equivalent albums for the first six months of the year with a 30.15% share, edging out Sony Music Entertainment at 29.93%, Warner Music Group with 18.4% and EMI with a 10.1% share.
UMG's album market share clocked in at 29%, behind Sony’s 30.4% share of the year's top selling albums which was led by Adele's ‘21’, selling 3.67 million units. WMG garnered 18.4% and EMI 10.1%.
In the track market share, UMG was the leader with a 32.7% share, outpacing Sony's 25.7%. WMG came in third with an 18.7% share, and EMI at 7.8%.10 Jul 2012
