Box is an art performance spectacular, designed for Wellington's Fringe Festival 2005, to be held at The White Room (off Lukes Lane). Box involves 6 Chapters filled with dancers, costumes by Sally ISH Tran, film, VJ Razordoll, horns, plus percussionists from Batucada, Disasteradio and Charlie ASH.
The idea of the show was born of a bout of claustrophobia, an intense moment of insignificance, when Rosie Riggir, Box's creative director and the vocalist of Charlie ASH, released she was just a fleshy mite, in a box on the tenth level of a building, filled with boxes, encompassing both her brain and body.
The show itself is divided into 6 parts each featuring a different choreographer and original music and presenting a different theme and issue to the audience. Themes begin with geometry and follow through commercialism, capitalism, evolution, to peer pressure, freedom and construction - featuring footage from anti bypass activists.
'Box' is showing at The White Room off Lukes Lane from the 16-19th of February from 9pm, with an extra show planned for the 19th at 7pm. Tickets are $15 from Good as Gold 140 Victoria St.
