2013 Best Jazz Album finalists

12th December 2012

Acclaimed Maori vocalist Whirimako Black, internationally renowned musician Nathan Haines and Latin songstress Jennifer Zea have been announced as finalists for the 2013 Best Jazz Album.

Black's 'The Late Night Plays', released in October 2011, is her first solo album since 2006 while Haines delivers his ninth solo work, a classic jazz album titled 'The Poet's Embrace' which is based around an old-fashioned saxophone quartet.

Zea's debut solo album 'The Latin Soul' is rich in Cuban rhythms and was produced by none other than fellow finalist Nathan Haines.

The winner of the 2013 Best Jazz Album will be announced at National Jazz Festival in Tauranga in March 2013.
