Marbecks Queens Arcade shutting up shop
22nd November 2012
As Peter McLennan reported via his Dub Dot Dash blog (dubdotdash.blogspot.co.nz), the Marbecks music store located in Aucklandís Queens Arcade will shut its doors for good in March 2013, after 77-years of trading on the site.
The closure was confirmed by staff - who also noted the Hobson street site will be transformed into a Marbecks branded café.
"They also told me the Hobson street site (near the Heritage Hotel, ex Farmers bldg) will be a cafe only at this stage, no decision has been made on whether to include a music store there."
It's not the only hit for the Marbecks franchise in 2012...
Marbecks Rotorua closed in July this year, with the owner noting that "nationwide the Marbecks chain had gone from 45 to six stores in the past four years."
Wellington's Lambton Quay store closed in April after 17 years trading as the CD and DVD Store, and the Wellington Airport store closed in January.
