25TH ANNIVERSARY ISSUE IN STORES NOW.
Ukuleles signed by the likes of Ozzy Osbourne and Green Day are being auctioned off to fund lyric writing workshops with at least 80 low decile primary schools across the North Island.
The initiative is a partnership between Play It Strange and online charitable trust Social Angels.
Bidding for the ukuleles, as well as a print signed and created by Leonard Cohen, is now open via Trade Me with a closing date of November 19, 2012.
Following the auctions, well-known Kiwi songwriters will travel to schools from Napier to Cape Reinga to lead these workshops and encourage children to be inspired music makers. Singer/songwriter Annah Mac will choose the most creative lyrics and compose the music for the winning song, which she will also perform at the winning school.
