2012 APRA Silver Scroll finalists announced!

The top five songwriters and composers in line for the 2012 Silver Scroll Award have been named. The finalists were peer voted through by 8,000+ APRA members from a shortlist of twenty songs, compiled by an independent panel.

And, the finalists for 2012 Silver Scroll Award are…

Getaway Tonight, written by Kody Nielson, performed by Opossom.

Hibernate, written and performed by Lydia Cole.

Girl In Stilettos, written and performed by Annah Mac.

Everything To Me written by Stephanie Brown, performed by Lips.

State Houses By The River, written by Adam McGrath, performed by The Eastern.

The winner of the prestigious award will be crowned at an invite only event on Thursday 13 September at the Auckland Town Hall. On the night, unique renditions of the finalists’ works will be performed under the tutelage of Music Director Jon Toogood (Shihad, The Adults), replacing Karl Steven.
 
Awards will also be presented for the Most Performed Works, The APRA Maioha Award, the SOUNZ Contemporary Award and an induction into the NZ Music Hall Of Fame.

 

Celebrating contemporary Maori music, the finalists for the APRA Maioha Award are:

Pounamu: written by Ahorangi Winitana, Sidney Diamond and Josh Fountain. Performed by Ahorangi featuring Sidney Diamond 

Matahîapo: written by Te Awanui Reeder, David Atai and Scotty Morrison. Performed by AWA 
I Am A Child: written and performed by Ria Hall
