Two Kiwi acts finalists in unsigned songwriting competition
29th July 2012
Unsigned Only, the younger sibling to the prestigious International Songwriting Competition, has revealed the finalists for its inaugural run - with two Kiwi names in the pack. The competition is open to artists with no connection to a major label record company or any of its affiliates, and aims to unearth hidden talent.
Local artists Tiki Taane and Ladi6 were selected from nearly 7,500 entrants, to join the top 100 finalists. Taane is nominated in the Adult Contemporary category for his Rugby World Cup song My Lion, while Ladi6 appears in the Pop/Top 40 category for Like Water.
A group of judges comprising high-profile recording artists and industry professionals will determine the category winners - announced in August, 2012. The grand prize winner will take home a bounty of prizes as well as mentoring sessions with top dog industry pros and record exes.
