IN STORES NOW!
The suavely be-suited rockers Dimmer have more good news for their seven and a half thousand fans and family pets nationwide.
Seven and a half thousand? Up-to-date statistical sales analysis of Dimmer’s two albums – 2004’s 'You’ve Got To Hear The Music' (Best Rock Album, 2004 Tuis) and 2001’s 'I Believe You Are A Star' – show that both albums have just attained gold status (7,500 sales) this month.
Frontman Shayne Carter, who maintains his youthful zest for life by mixing active participation in sports such as football, harness racing, and lawn bowls, with his daily creative routine slumped in front of the music computer programme, Pro-Tools, has not previously received a Gold Album in a musical career which spans 20 years.
"But recognition of the fact that both Dimmer albums have sold Gold is pretty bloody amazing, bro. My understanding is that it is traditional for record companies to shower the artist in gold to celebrate such an achievement, but in keeping with our usual modest stance on such matters, the Dimmer band is just asking for cash."
In keeping with the spirit of celebration, Dimmer have decided to extend an invitation to all 7,500 fans to share in the cash-spilling frenzy by coming along to see the band play live at Auckland’s swanky K Road venue THE STUDIO on Thursday 9 December. Fellow travellers on the good groove highway, SJD, will be joining Dimmer on the night.
