2009 APRA Silver Scroll winners

James Milne (Lawrence Arabia) and Luke Buda have been announced as the winners of the 44th APRA Silver Scroll awards for the song Apple Pie Bed. "This is beautiful pop music with an edge, songwriting genius, Apple Pie Bed is a classic" says APRA NZ Director, Anthony Healey. Four hundred songs were entered for this year's awards. That number was whittled down to 20 by a secret panel of five songwriters before APRA’s 7000+ members voted through the top five finalists. Dimmer's Degrees of Existence, Jess Chambers' Island, Phil Madsen's Dancing on the Moon and Midnight Youth's The Letter were the other finalists.
Midnight Youth won Most Performed Work in NZ for their song The Letter, and Neil Finn won Most Performed Work Overseas for Don't Dream It's Over.Hirini Melbourne and Richard Nunns were inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame.
