Mareko Album To Be Released In Australia

Firstly, we’d like to warmly welcome Out There Distribution, TMet Recordings, Warm Earth and Rhythmworks to IMNZ. Kia ora to our new crew members!

Huge congratulations to our IMNZ Juice TV Award winners. The coveted Best Video award went to Misfits Of Science Fools Love, Lucid 3 won Best Indie Video for AM Radio, and Katchafire won Best Urban Video for Colour Me Life.

Katchafire (Mai Music) have also just finished a new live video for the song Seriously, filmed at Safari Lounge by award-winning director Ivan Slavov, which is their latest and last track at radio from their debut album. They are now in the studio recording their 2nd album, with Chris Macro and the band producing, and will return to Australia and New Caledonia in the next 8 weeks before commencing a major summer tour.

We’re keeping our fingers crossed for all of our Vodafone 2004 NZ Music Awards finalists: Phoenix Foundation, Adeaze, Minuit, Mareko, Shapeshifter, Misfits Of Science, Ruia, Hirini Melbourne, Richard Nunns and Aroha Yates-Smith, Whirimako Black, Te Vaka and The All Stars.

Te Vaka leave for Spain Next week. Their new album ‘Tutuki’ is currently No. 7 on the European World Music Chart for September, entering the chart at No. 4; the chart is based on radio play across Europe. ‘Tutuki’ is Album of the Week on Radio Voce Spazio Alessandria in Italy.

Whirimako Black is back in the studio recording her follow-up to ‘Tangihaku’ with Russell Walder, an American artist/composer, now resident in NZ (he has albums on Windham Hill and Real Music). Whirimako has been invited to perform at the World Expo in Japan in 2005 and was recently the only musician recipient of the Te Waka Toi award in recognition of her work in pushing the boundaries of Maori music in te reo.

Adeaze Ft. Aaradhna, Misfits of Science (Hoof) and Fast Crew (King Music) have all been solidly placed in the national Top 10 Singles Chart over recent weeks, with Adeaze reaching number 1.

Mareko's album ‘White Sunday’ is being released on September 20 in Australia through Dawn Raid/Inertia. Mareko and Savage will be joining Scribe on his Australian ‘Stand Up’ tour in support of Mareko's album.

There has been a change in the lineup of Rubicon. Gene Bennett and Jon Corker quit the band mid-year due to musical differences, and Paul Reid is now recording the second Rubicon album in Los Angeles with the help of some LA friends. The album will be released by Wildside before Xmas.

Fabel Music presents Pacific Heights’ remix album 'Borne Together'. A variety of luminaries from NZ and elsewhere have contributed mixes of tracks from Pacific Heights’ album ‘Frozen Fears’, including Blame (UK), Sardi (Perth), Motiv (Melbourne), C-Form (Wellington) and Vice Versa (Sydney).

‘Frozen Orange’, David Kilgour's latest offering, is out now on Arch Hill. It was recorded largely by Lambchop’s producer/engineer Mark Nevers in Nashville and features the contributions of Lambchop members plus a surprise appearance by Sebadoh’s Jason Loewenstein. Look out for David Kilgour and the Heavy Eights on tour.

The Phoenix Foundation (Capital) are all back together with the return of Luke Buda from his European vacation, so they've got a couple of live dates to ease them back into it, including supporting David Kilgour.

Powertool Records is gearing up for the 12th release from the Kaleidoscope series. Kaleidscope 12 takes place on the 25th of September at the Kings Arms in Auckland. Players include Midwest Motorparts Corral, Jackpoint, Angel Sound, Lincoln Jackson, Ryan McPhunn, Fats White, Runninghouse and The Johnsons.

Pick Up The Pieces, the new single from Crumb (Antenna), has just hit radio and television and their debut album ‘So Dirty, Everyday’ is in stores September 24. To celebrate, that night they will be having their Auckland release party, appearing on Top of the Pops on the 18th, the Ohakune Spring Fest on the 28th and their Wellington release party on October 1st will be webcast live on www.crumb.co.nz

Mo’reece has signed to Kahu Records, watch out for the new NZ On Air funded video for No Reason Why. Kat Theo’s single Waiting is in stores soon, the video is currently on most music video shows.
A new Jews Brothers album, ‘Too Much Talent’, has just been released on Rouge Records via Out There Distribution.

The long-awaited Audio Sauce album ‘Contimental Drift’ is out on September 20; watch for an appearance by Audio Sauce & Miss Tyc on Top Of The Pops in the coming weeks. The Fanatics have signed to Capitalrecordings with an album due out in late October on CD & vinyl. A video is also in pre-production for their b-Net hit Models, courtesy of some helpful NZ On Air funding money, with Sticky Pictures' Mark Albiston set to direct.

Agent Alvin's eponymous debut album is set for release in early October on Capitalrecordings, featuring guest vocalists MC Kyla, Spikey Tee and Ruth Carr (Minuit) among others. Following on from the success of Definite & Bling’s Jump UP! 12" will be out next month; and watch out for a CD single (our first one!) in October with both Jump UP! and Damn on it. A video for Flash Harry’s Alright will be out soon with an album repackage in stores soon to follow.
