Temple NZ Music Industry Info Bulletin July 17 2007

17th July 2007
Here's your weekly dose of music industry opportunities: whether you're a musician or you'd like to work behind the scenes, there is pretty much something for everyone in these listings. Back issues are to be found at www.temple.co.nz

If you have anything you would like included (FREE!) in the next newsletter, please email karen@temple.co.nz.  Gig listins aren't included, unless they involves an "opportunity" eg open mics

=======================================================================
=======================================================================

1/ Karen Says
This weeks non-music industry "tip" - if you have anything to include in
this section - let me know!
Horribly boring - I know!!  BUT did you know if you are in business (eg
part-time musician, full-time musician, part time engineer, full-time
engineer - you get the picture) the "lovely" people at the IRD have a FREE
service where they will come out and tell you all about how the tax system
works, what you can claim for tax, all about GST etc etc.
Info at
www.ird.govt.nz/contact-us/appointments/btio/appointments-btios.html?id=righttabs

Open mics and jams

I only include additions or changes in this section these days.  All other
known open mics are at http://www.temple.co.nz/Temple_OpenMics.htm.  If
there are any errors in the listing on the website or anything you'd like to
add - please email me at karen@temple.co.nz

Promotional Opportunities

The Mukuna gig guide now offers a txt version.
It works by txting a band name, genre, venue, neighborhood or day of the
week (or any combination) to 5477. Txts cost 20 cents. Covers central
Auckland. Details: www.mukuna.co.nz/txtguide.htm

Invite2GO
Allows you to send invitations to people to attend a gig, meeting, party,
conference etc that are geocoded, that means attached to a physical address
or location. The recipient of the email enters the address they are leaving
from and can then view and print a personalized route map and turn by turn
directions from anywhere in NZ to that location. The event doesn't even have
to be a street address, it could be a band rotunda in Albert Park, or a
grass patch at Takapuna Beach.
Special offer: Have unlimited use of the full commercial product for your
next gig or event for free. All you do is go to www.invite2go.co.nz and set
up an account, then email Luigi at Luigi.cappel@geosmart.co.nz and tell him:
1. That they heard about this from this newsletter; and
2. The name of the account they set up.
I will then apply an appropriate credit to the account for their needs.
