Antipodean Happenings

20th July 2004

In news from New Zealander Mark de Clive-Lowe's label Antipodean, Amsterdam's Club Paradiso recently played host to the world premiere showcase of Legends of the Underground - a 30 minute multimedia dance spectacular with 28 dancers, 3D animation and soundtrack by Mark de Clive-Lowe, Seiji, Bembé Segué and Domu. As yet there is no word as to whether or not the soundtrack will see an official release.

Chris Cox and Isaac Aisili aka ThisInformation, have released their single 'Galaxy Blues' on Italian imprint Electrosacher.  Chris has played his final show at Khuja for a while, and he will soon be back on his travels. ThisInformation are adding finishing touches to brand new productions featuring Mark de Clive-Lowe, Cherie Mathieson, Ladi 6 and Lewis McCallum, plus a remix of a fresh Mark de Clive-Lowe track featuring UK rapper Lyric L. Having just finished the Legends of the Underground soundtrack, Mark de Clive-Lowe is back in the studio working on brand new material as well as collaborations with Wajeed (Platinum Pied Pipers/Slum Village), IG Culture and Pino Palladino.

'Tide's Arising', the new Mark de Clive-Lowe album, has had its Japanese release (via Columbia Japan) pushed back to late September. An official 4 track vinyl album sampler will be commercially available worldwide from the start of September and for the extreme vinyl junkies, there's a very limited promo 12" being released by HMV Japan of 4.y.v. (edit) b/w Sanctuary, the album's Japan-only bonus track.

Antipodean's new London clubnite Freesoul Sessions is approaching and in the meantime theyre kicking off with a couple of guest spots in Portobello with Mark de Clive-Lowe, Bembe and UpRock alongside Productions residents Motet, Adam Rock and Daz I-Kue. In Shoreditch, Mark de Clive-Lowe's FreeSoul Sessions guests at Ross Allen's Destination Out clubnite with Abdul Shyllon and Vanessa Freeman (Chillifunk) on vocals and Kaidi Tatham (Bugz in the Attic) on drums/percussion/moog.
