Videos for Capitalrecordings artists picked up two Kodak Music Clip Awards for the second year running, for the same two awards as last year, and to the same to video-makers! Paul Herschell won the Best Animated award for Flash Harry's I Love Lo-Fi and Richard Bell won The Knack award (best video made for under $5000) for The Phoenix Foundation's Going Fishing.
Paul has just completed his latest video for Capital, with help from NZ On Air, it's an animated piece to accompany Definte & Bling's Jump Up! single from the three-track Definte & Bling 12" which came out at the start of July (CREV1207). Definite & Bling will be performing Jump Up! on Top Of The Pops this Saturday July 24th (TV2, 6pm) and the video will be out to C4 and Juice in the next week or so. A full-length album is in the pipeline as well with a spring release tentatively pencilled in.
Two new artists are welcomed to the Capitalrecordings family. Agent Alvin has signed to the label for his next album. Currently slated for release in October, it features guest vocalists MC Kyla, Spikey Tee and Ruth Carr (Minuit) among others. Saboteur (featuring Ruth) will most likely be the first single due for 12" release.
Riki Gooch of Trinity Roots has also signed for two albums under the name Eru. These albums will feature a massive range of guest musicians and vocalists. Riki's currently on tour with Trinity Roots, but when he gets back he'll be powering back into the studio to get the first album out (hopefully) this year.
The second Audio Sauce album 'Contimental Drift' (CREC1008) should be out in shops in mid/late August. It features 24 tracks including Bee Bo, Come & Get Me & Covert Operation (both featurng Miss Tyc on vocals) and a host of other tracks, interludes and general madness. Tana Mitchell has done the sleeve for us in the same style as the 12" sleeve sticker.
Flash Harry is jotting down ideas for his second album for us and pre-production on a follow-up to the video for I Love Lo-Fi is underway with Paul Herschell. It's going to be for Alright from the album and 12" and it should be a fast turnaround on this one too, as Paul's off to SE Asia in five weeks to try an de-square his battered eyes.
