Dave Dobbyn Teams Up With The APO

Dave Dobbyn is one of New Zealand's most renowned musicians, with a career that has spanned almost 30 years and a string of hits including Be Mine Tonight, Beside You, Language, Slice of Heaven and Loyal.

Now, for the first time, Dave Dobbyn teams up with the 70-piece Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra on Saturday 12 August to perform those hits, specially arranged for full orchestra by Tom Rainey.

Dave Dobbyn's talents are much-loved by New Zealanders. A tribute to the lasting impact of his songs came in 2001 when New Zealand's songwriters and music industry experts voted five of his songs onto the list of Top 30 New Zealand songs written in the previous 75 years. In May 2006 it was the public who secured him the No.1 slot on the Top 50 list with his song Loyal. Seven songs by Dave Dobbyn were included, more than any other songwriter. He also holds the record for the most Silver Scroll Awards for songwriting, and last year he won Songwriter of the Year at the 2005 Music Awards for his single Welcome Home, a song that has now been in the airplay charts for over a year.
