Steaming For A Cause with Rhombus, Batucada Sound Machine, Rhian Sheehan and Module

Rhombus Live, Batucada Sound Machine, Rhian Sheehan and Module come together for Steaming for a Cause at Galatos on June 3rd 2006 in association with DaimlerChrysler and HofmannPresents.

Steaming for a Cause brings together some fine musicians and aims to raise awareness of Cancer among the 20-30 year old community of New Zealand. Through celebration, they want to support those who have, who are or who will be affected by Cancer.

Every dollar in profit generated by Steaming for a Cause, supported by Daimler Chrysler, will go to providing better care, better research, and better opportunities for those of our friends affected by Cancer.

Rhombus represents a constantly evolving tour de force and guest artists bring their own flavours to add to the mix, and each performance is full of positive energy. Joining Rhombus in their live line up are musicians Darren Mathiassen (drums) and Steve Gallagher (keys).

Batucada Sound Machine are forging new paths in global music. This bunch of 15 mad musicians boasts members from Chile, Brazil, the UK and NZ - and as the numbers suggest, the sound they create is truly massive. Featuring a horn section, a 7 piece percussion line-up, MC Hazadus, Rota Barrington on drums and a host of unmentionable others, BSM cooks up a high-octane brew of latino groove, brazilian beats and raw hiphop.

Module draws on the roots of his classical music theory and live-band experience to produce an organic style of electronica that is played and not programmed. Module has performed as a musician in The Black Seeds, Fly My Pretties, Rhombus and Rhian Sheehan.

Rhian Sheehan is an acclaimed electronica/cinematic composer, who has released 3 albums and is touring around the globe with his live band and VJs. Rhian's shows are full of multimedia with big screen visuals and 100% live electronica. Rhian Sheehan re-creates and translates the lush atmospheres and beautiful sound-scapes (and big beats) found in his albums to a stunning multimedia event.
