Brunettes New Album Out This Month.

10th June 2004

'Mars Loves Venus', the second album from New Zealand's favourite bubblegum pop band will be released in New Zealand on June 28th. 'Mars Loves Venus' features 12 new songs intricately arranged and recorded by singer Jonathan Bree.

All songs feature the trademark sounds of the Brunettes - hand claps, harmonies, and glockenspiel as well as new additions such as the optigan, banjo and typewriter.

Recorded in Brees' Kingsland flat in Auckland over the last seven months, the album also features songs written by vocalist Heather Mansfield and guitarist James Milne, and was mastered by Ed Cake.

As with previous releases, 'Mars Loves Venus' tackles new subject matter, rarely sung about. Songs about physical defects Too Big For Gidgit, self-abuse Leonard Says, and the emotionally numbing effects sadly brought on by the coming of age No Regrets and Your Heart Dies as well as the popular themes of love and lust. The first single off the album is Loopy Loopy Love.

The Brunettes will be touring New Zealand on the following dates:

Auckland, The Kings Arms - Fri 16th July

New Plymouth, The Basement - Sat 17th July

Wellington, Bar Bodega - Sat 24th July

Christchurch, The Jetset Lounge - Fri 13th August

Dunedin, Refuel - Sat 14th August

Leigh, Sawmill Café - Fri 20th August

Auckland, The Masonic - Sat 21st August
