First NZ Bands Announced For SXSW

The NZ Music Industry Commission has announced the complete first list of New Zealand artists invited to perform at South By Southwest 2006. Asked to join over one thousand acts from around the world to celebrate South By Southwest's 20th Anniversary next year are:

The Bats
The Brunettes
Die! Die! Die!
Evermore
Flight Of The Conchords
Ryan McPhun and The Ruby Suns

Another crop of invitees will be announced over the coming weeks.

In other SXSW news, the NZMIC can confirm that the annual NZ Music Function will take place once again on the opening night of the conference. Giving hundreds of international music industry participants an advance opportunity to check out and meet the NZ acts ahead of their individual showcases, this event has become a welcome fixture in the SXSW calendar.
