October News...

IMNZ-related artists Fat Freddy's Drop, P-Money,Del Rey System,Scribe, SJD andArdijah all were awarded Tuis at the 2005 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards - good on you, mates.

Welcome to our newest member, FigureHead Records. IMNZ now has over 50 member record labels and distributors!

On the international front, the Windy City Strugglers are in Europe and the UK to promote the European release of 'Kingfisher' on French label Last Call. They will be playing at a couple of festivals in France as well as shows in Paris and London.

Intergalactic Australia will be releasingSubtract's album 'Formula One', and a tour by the band commences late November. The World Battle of the Bands starts in Australia this month. The Twitch won the New Zealand final; they will be meeting their Australian, USA, Singapore, Philippines and Hong Kong counterparts at the World Finals in Hong Kong on November 26.

Concord Dawn featuring Hollie Smith's 12" Say Your Words, complete with aGoldie remix, is coming out on Metalheadz, and a Concord Dawn featuring Devin Abrams (Shapeshifter, Pacific Heights) 12" is forthcoming on Metalheadz Platinum. They are also playing some European tour dates.

Savage's debut album 'Moonshine' was released in Australia on the 19th of September and it is currently sitting at #20. The Moonshine feat. Akon single has just been released to radio & TV and is the #2 most added song at Australian radio this week.
 
Back home, Jayrem Records are having a busy month with the release of double albums by Mahinarangi Tocker ('The Mongrel In Me') and UHP ('Legacy'). Roger Cunningham, a finalist in the APRA Maioha Awards, has his 'Toto' album also hitting the streets in October.  Hot Club Sandwich's 'Toasted' album was given 4 stars in a recent issue of highly respected US jazz magazine Downbeat. All four of the Hot Club Sandwich CD's are distributed by Jayrem.

Since coming together in 2002, OdESSA have become firmly established as one of Wellington's most exciting live bands and some loyal fans have even taken to making their own t-shirts. Their debut album 'Oak Park Avenue' is out now.

Maorimusic.com is set to distribute in November the CD 'Gifted and Maori (Vol2)' compilation, produced by the late Phil Fuemana and released on Gifted and Maori Records/Urban Pacifika, now managed by brother Tony Fuemana.

The Disruptiv Music crew are gettin' busy this month; they have 4 Corners' debut single release, plus the Disruptiv Mixtape volume 4 is out this month, free with Disrupt Magazine #6.  The compilation features 23 exclusive Aotearoa hip-hop tracks featuring big names alongside up-and-comers, plus of new stuff from the entire Disruptiv roster. Auckland duo The Downlow's new self-funded video is for Get It Crunk. Labelmate/manager MC 4Higher finishes up his 'High Time' mixtape, expected out late October/early November.

Te Vaka depart for Tahiti for a performance at the Toata Stadium in Papeete. In November they return to Hawaii for a show at the Waikiki Shell then on to the USA Mainland for a show at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City on the 3rd of December.

The Shrugs have a new album that will be released on the 20th October.

The Bleeders hit the North Island for a run of shows prior to crossing the ditch to complete Australian dates early November. Also on the tour will be Cobra Khan who will be releasing their first single Wrapped In Plastic as an exclusive download to coincide with the tour.

Dirty Records releases Frontline's debut album 'Borrowed Time' on October 31st. To support the release of the album Frontline will be on tour through out New Zealand along with special guests P Money, PNC and D Form.
