IN STORES THIS WEEK!
Entries for the USA Songwriting Competition close this Friday May 28 - but as long as your entry is postmarked by this date, you still have a chance to enter.
The winning songs will receive airplay on the USA radio program, Acoustic Cafe, as well as XM Radio. Entrants stand to win a grand prize in excess of $50,000 in cash, merchandise and exposure, making this one of the largest prize packages for any annual songwriting competition.
Many USA Songwriting Competition winners have received recording and publishing contracts and had their songs placed on film and in television. Judges include representatives from record labels such as Warner/Reprise Records and Sony Music, and songs may be entered in 15 different categories, including pop, rock, hip-hop and country. And in news just to hand, the International Songwriting Competition 2004 has just been announced. This is the competition in which our very own Moana Maniapoto won the overall prize last year with her song Moko.
Winners of the ISC will share $100,000 in cash and prizes, and there will be 50 winners in 16 categories. All musicians, bands, artists, and
songwriters are invited to enter their songs. The competition started in 2002, and ISC 2004 offers both aspiring and established songwriters the opportunity to have their songs heard by a prestigious panel of judges that so far includes the likes of Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, Macy Gray, alongside many other musicians and music industry professionals.
ISC's mission is to provide songwriters and musicians exposure in the international arena. Aside from the cash and prizes, ISC winners will also
receive a promotional campaign that includes an annual compilation CD distributed to A&R executives, artist showcases at various conferences, air-play on ISCRadio, and more.
