Music Videos & New Recordings & Radio Hits Decisions From NZ On Air’s August 2005 Meeting
19th August 2005
Music Videos
In this first round for the 2005/2006 funding year, NZ On Air received 132 applications. This funding year, they have increased the budget for music videos and instead of doing the 140 that were budgeted for last year, they have the budget to do 160 projects this year.
In the current round, 59 projects made it to the first shortlist i.e. 59 contenders for one of the 26-27 grants available.
Each project will get $5,000 towards making a music video. Decisions are based on airplay potential after testing the songs with music video broadcasters and taking into account current radio priorities.

Decisions are based on analysing the RadioScope airplay charts, which are in turn based on airplay returns from 146 radio stations around the country.
Songs that have picked up significant airplay in this quarter but have already been funded via the Phase Four Album or New Recording schemes are not eligible for Radio Hits funding as well.
