Dub Asylum 12" Vinyl Launch Party and Exhibition

13th May 2004

Dub Asylum ( AKA: Peter McLennan, former member of 90s reggae-thrash-punk-ska mutants the Hallelujah Picassos) are pleased as punch to announce the release of their brand new remix ep, featuring some of the hottest DJ's/producers from Aotearoa - Timmy Schumacher vs Substax, Rob Warner and Josh Webb, The Audioslut, and Matt Scott at Woodcut Productions.

They are all highly talented chaps; for example, Timmy currently has the top selling Breaks single in the UK, for a tune he did with Baitercell that was picked up for release by a UK label.

The remixes take tracks from Dub Asylum's debut album 'She Dubs Me, She Dubs Me Not' and twist them in new directions, serving up genres as varied as breaks, tech house, drum n bass, and hiphop.

The EP launch will be celebrated with a very special event: Peter has hooked up with leading NZ graffiti artist Daniel Tippett (who has worked alongside DLT and Otis Frizzell for many years), who will be getting a bunch of the record covers, laying them down in a grid pattern, then doing a big graffiti art mural over them, so each individual cover is a limited edition artwork. It's going to look choice!

There will be a one-night-only art exhibition at Rakinos on Tuesday May 25, displaying the finished covers (for sale on the night), after which they will be split up and sold. About 50-60 covers will be painted by Daniel, the rest will have an art stencil design on them, so every copy of the EP is an original work of art. There will also be DJs on the night, including Dub Asylum and Timmy Schumacher.

The release is strictly limited to 300 vinyl copies.   The show is on Tuesday May 25 from 6PM at Rakinos, 1st floor, 35 High Street, Auckland.

Vinyl Release date - Monday May 24th, 2004.
