Juice TV Awards
The Juice TV Awards returned to their preferred home of Float Bar on the edge of Auckland's Viaduct precinct for the third annual bash in early September. Previously known as Leftfield, home of TV's Sports Café, the venue was in receivership last year, causing Juice to head further down the wharf to a far less suitable room. This one broadcast live on Sky free-to- air in Auckland for the first time.
Combining a live televised musician awards ceremony with a party for 400 or so people is something of an art in itself and Juice seem to have got the knack. This year the fanfare was kept to a minimum, the alcohol:food ratio was vastly improved and the screen saturated bar allowed interested partygoers to keep an eye on who was winning what.

The awards themselves are filmed in a studio area that is the calm eye of the party hurricane and those guests not in line for trophies are expected to do nothing more than enjoy a great night.
Once the televised aspect was completed an assortment of acts, led off by WBC and followed by James Reid loosely co-ordinating (among others) members of Elemeno P, Gramsci and 48 May played on by the bar into the wee hours.
Always a vindication of Kiwi small screen artistry, this year's public voted Juice TV Awards found eight of 11 awards categories won by local acts. The Coke Choice Award went to Zed for Starlight while the Breakthrough Video Artist was Scribe for Stand Up.
Other local winners were:
Best Solo Video - Bic Runga Something Good
Best Group Video - Elemeno P Verona
Best Hip Hop Video - King Kapisi U Can't Resist Us
Best Indie Videos - D Dub Give Up Your Love and 48 May Fightback
Best RnB/Urban Video - Salmonella Dub Dance Hall Girl
