Every Good Band Has a Great Manager
The International Music Managers Forum (IMMF) has set up a branch in New Zealand after a successful series of 'interest seminars' in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.
NZ has become the 12th member country of the IMMF which currently represents over 2000 managers who in turn represent over 12,000 artists. The other member countries are; UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany, France, Norway and The Netherlands. Muse Records owner Mark Roach is championing the cause on behalf of IMNZ.
Apart from the increased networking and upskilling of music managers and self-managed artists, benefits of joining the MMF include an impressive a managers 'how-to' manual (rrp $75). Also worldwide discounts to trade events (including SXSW, Midem, Popkomm, CMJ, etc); a free listing in the Australasian Music Industry Directory; free online versions of the Australian and Canadian Music Networks; free entry to regular MMF seminars (including international speakers), and access to a members-only website which allows discussion between managers worldwide.
A two-tier membership with different levels of benefits will exist as well as a non-voting associate membership. Full details on the membership structure and how to join can be found at www.immf.net/nz/
