Filesharing blog TorrentFreak.com has that reported the big four record labels (EMI, Sony, Universal and Warner Music) are utilizing a task force of students to hunt down other students who pirate music.
The labels have hired Hamburg-based anti-piracy group proMedia, whose sole purpose is to hunt down copyright infringements on behalf of Bundesverband Musikindustrie (The Federal Association of Music Industry) - of which the ‘big four’ are all members.
According to an anonymous employee referred to only as “Peter”, proMedia employs around 35 students who comb Google search forums, blogs and file hosting sites for infringements.
