Former Iron Maiden singer admits to benefit fraud

Paul Di’Anno, the former lead singer of Iron Maiden is facing jail after being exposed as a benefit cheat by music videos on YouTube. The 52 year-old claimed to be suffering nerve damage to his back that prevented him performing but following a tip off, the Department of Work and Pensions discovered a number of YouTube videos of Di’Anno performing on stage while still claiming the incapacity benefit, housing benefit and council tax handouts.
Di’Anno admitted to eight counts of benefit fraud as well as claiming more than $67,500 in benefits. He will be sentenced on March 11.
