Take The Willing: FIGHT MUSIC

By Alistair Wickens
This debut album from the four staunch looking lads who make up Take The Willing is one strong album, both production-wise and in the raw aggression that lies in store for the hardy listener. Tauranga seems to churn out some good heavy bands and Take The Willing prove no exception with 12 fresh, blistering tracks of hardcore. The album title sums up the general feel of the album - there is no question that this is angry music, but with a point to make. Once recorded by Paul Matthews at The Lab the album tracks were then flown to Europe for finishing by big name Swedish producers Pelle Henriccson and Eskil Lovstrom. I can't figure why. Sure Sweden does seem to be the home of the sound that Take The Willing are after, but there must be sufficient talent in NZ these days to achieve the same production levels?
