Various: Supa Fresh 2: Hot Off the Grill

The title implies this is a release for summer, and this King Music compilation does have that feel to it. Among the 20 tracks of NZ hip hop and r 'n' b are several from well known artists, as many up and comers and just a few that might have you scratching your head wondering where they came from and where they're going to be next summer. P-Money collaborators Tyna and PNC feature, and there's the obligatory Che Fu track, as well as stand outs from Feelstyle and Korza. There's also a track from former Lotto presenter turned r 'n' b singer Russell Watson. The overall feel of the album is inoffensive and it would sit well as background music at a family BBQ. A couple of the hip hop tracks jar with the formula - Ermehn's 'gangsta' Silver & Gold is one example, but apart from that it all flows nicely without requiring too much effort on the part of the listener.
