Stardrunk: Complete Control

By Gareth Shute
Stardrunk have done a good job of appearing out of nowhere and suddenly blanketing the rock stations with their tunes. They followed this album release with a kick-ass video for the track, Stand Tall. In reality, of course, this band has done the hard yards when it comes to touring and this is apparent on their first album. The music is tightly performed, with a number of tracks that rock in similar fashion to Pacifier (ahem), though the vocals lean more towards the emotion of Linkin Park. The slower tracks on the album - Gone Another Day, Watching the Sunrise, and The Last Goodbye - are conveniently placed every fourth song so the listener has time to catch their breath before returning to the onslaught. Stardrunk are at their best when they are delivering music that is made to be played loud. They aren't trying to reinvent the wheel, but this is an album that is bound to satisfy listeners who like their rock music delivered with passion and backed by a wall of loud guitars.
