PA Equipment

With a number of new and interesting microphones recently becoming available, we thought it was time to grab a selection and put them to the test for NZM readers. We asked SAE’s Recording Arts degree class to give four mics the once over, and report back on their performance. The microphones tested included three designated as stage vocal microphones and one tube large diaphragm condenser designed for studio use. Ahh, the working musician’s dream – to replace the car full of PA equipment with a one-piece do-it-all PA. For me it would need to be a system that sounds as good as my current pile of gear, yet is a lot more easy and quick to set up and break down.
