APRA
Australasian Performing Right Association

The songwriters and publishers' association which collects performance monies on behalf of its members internationally. APRA's NZ office is located in Mt Eden, Auckland. APRA presents the annual Silver Scroll, SOUNZ Contemporary and APRA Maioha awards. APRA also has seats on the NZ Music Industry Commission and SOUNZ boards.

NZ On Air
NZ On Air is a broadcast funding agency with a music division. NZ On Air funding pays for national radio and Concert FM to record and broadcast NZ music and funds access radio stations who carry specialist NZ music shows.

NZ On Air also produces the Kiwi Hit Disc, Indie Hit Disc and Iwi Hit Disc. An increase in funding recently saw NZ On Air launch Phase Four of its music programmes, which includes an Artist development scheme.

Play It Strange
The Play It Strange Charitable Trust was established in November 2003 for the purpose of encouraging young New Zealanders to develop interests and skills in songwriting and musical performance. The Trust runs a range of programmes across New Zealand to achieve its purpose including the National Secondary Schools' Somgwriting Competition.

RBA
The Radio Broadcasters Association

The RBA represents the non-competing interests of most of New Zealand’s commercial radio stations, including the two major networks, The Radio Network and CanWest Radio.

Because of the importance of music to most stations the RBA involves itself in many aspects of NZ music including the voluntary NZ Music Code to grow local music on commercial radio to 20% by end 2005.At present this is running ahead of target. The RBA also has a major involvement with NZ Music Month, live broadcasts of NZ musicians and the like.

RIANZ
Recording Industry Association of New Zealand

RIANZ represents the country's record companies and presents the annual NZ Music Awards ('The Tuis') in April. It also administers the Recording Artists & Producers (RAP) fund. RIANZ has recently launched the BRN & GT BRNT anti CD piracy campaign. It is based in Parnell, Auckland, also the office for Phonographic Performances (NZ) Ltd.
