Alpharhythm
In 1995 music enthusiast Sam Cumming got lost in the relatively new phenomenon of dance music. Armed with a Roland MC303 and a recently acquired taste for the music of Basic Channel, Maurizio and Ritchie Hawtin, Sam bundled together some "less is more" determined tunes under the lo-fi CDR demo, Language.
Keeping the minimalist aesthetic but shifting to computer based production Alpharhythm released his second limited edition CDR entitled, Equilibrium.
A veteran of the Aotearoa festival circuit, and host of Radio One's weekly "Eclectro" show, Alpharhythm has been producing & performing his distinctive blend of deep techno, dub & house for a decade.
He describes his sound as "deep, spaced-out techno with elements of house, dub & breaks, with the occasional melodic flourish".
Other people have described it variously as:" slacker tek", "dawn techno"."a full-body massage for the ears" ,"head music for the dancefloor"
