William is (as of 2006) 9 years old, and resides in Nelson.
William started music lessons at age 7, and with an old family keyboard began busking in the streets of Nelson that helped him to save for my first keyboard and buskers amp. The same year his composition Shark Catching the Rainbow Fish was awarded third place in the instrumental section of the Pacific Song Writing Competition. At 7 he also recorded his first CD, ‘Awakening’, a mixture of his own compositions and covers of other artists’.
William won two 1st place scholarships at the age of eight, and went on to record his second CD ‘William Alive,’ holding a concert at the Nelson School of Music to celebrate its release.
This year (2006) William recieved another first place Scholarship, and 3 first place awards in Performing Arts from the Nelson School of Music.
He plays keyboard, harmonica, sings and continues learning the guitar. He would like to give drums a go too.
He says, “I’m wanting to tour the world and still be playing when I’m 80!”
