Mr Sicc: Home Invasion

Known previously for his street mixtape 'The Flea Market' and contributions to NZ gangster rapper Ermhen's second album, Otara-based reality MC Mr Sicc strikes back with this teaser album designed to lead into his formal double album release 'Cannibal Music' on State House Records. 'Home Invasion' is riddled with international and local guest appearances in the vocal and beat production departments, the production in particular has a very international but yet underground and soulful feel to it, which was refreshing to my ears under the current climate of local hip hop. Lyrically it is more or less a comprehensive examination of the various aspects of Mr Sicc's environment and previous life experiences. Some of it is touching, some of it is downright disgusting. Certainly not for everyone as the photgraphic imagery on the profanity-laced sleeve immediately attests, there is nonetheless a degree of conviction and honesty in the total package that deserves attention.
