Evil Priest: Underground Hardcore

By Greg Page
A 12 track album weighing in at just over 16 minutes recorded at Phoenix studios and engineered by Evan Short. It's a smart looking and sharp sounding album. The drums punch through the mix and the vocals are clear. The songs are well structured and change pace and tone in the blink of an eye. It's nice to hear a band get through two verses, two choruses and a bridge in under two minutes. Stand out tracks for me were Bloody Nubs, Satan's Homie and Zombie. My only gripe would be the unchanging guitar sound. I wanted to hear more depth in the melodies but I figure that's what I'd get seeing Evil Priest live. Overall 'Underground Hardcore' is a fine example of the genre. The twisted soundtrack to a sick ass horror film. Available through Global Routes.
