Kokomo: Á Gogo

Kokomo (originally Kokomo Blues) are led by Derek Jacombs on vocals and guitar and with Grant Bullot's harmonica to the fore. The band have performed with a staggering number of the nation's musicians over the past decade and a half. Here with other full time members Nigel Masters on bass and Grant's wife Sonia on trumpet are guest players Mike Kirk on guitar and drummer Ian Gilpin. Kokomo entrance their home-town Tauranga audience. The 13 tracks are mostly originals, with a couple of old favourites thrown in for good measure. The album was recorded live at Tauranga's Baycourt Theatre in Nov '05 by Brian de Jong, produced by Jacombs and mixed by Masters and Jacombs at the Boatshed Studio. The group sound cohesive, spontaneous and groove like mad. If you love acoustic-based blues, this is probably the best example of Kokomo in their natural habitat… on stage! www.kokomo.co.nz
