FIESTA DRIVE: No Exit
By Peter Dent
They say not to judge a book by its cover and in this case they're right! With such an obviously self-produced CD, I wasn't getting my hopes up but Fiesta Drive sound like the lovechild of Steve Earle and Jimmy Barnes! It was weird to read later that Earle is an influence of singer/songwriter, Aron Neale, along with a host of other influences which include The Stones, Paul Simon, Seger, Springsteen and Dylan. Neale is the most accomplished of this quartet, having sung and played guitar in a variety of bands and as a solo artist. Other members are Muz Tomlin on guitar, Jason Clark on bass and Danish import Henrik Rylev on drums. Six of the 11 original tracks were produced within the band, with the other five mixed and produced by others. Neale's gravelly voice cuts through the tracks like a musical chainsaw. This is catchy, fun southern-tinged rock - the band sound like they're having a ball. www.fiestadrive.com
