8 Foot Sativa: Season For Assault
By Ania Glowacz
They’ve outdone themselves. 8 Foot Sativa have achieved exactly what they set out to do - make a kick-ass second album that not only improves significantly on their first (production-wise), but launches their heavy metal missile into the stratosphere! Recorded at York St. and honed at Area 51 in New Lynn, this album is tight and well executed, with an incredible rhythmic backbone that cements their place as our top metal export alongside Blindspott. Some may find the vocals a little harsh (it’s hardcore, mate!), but there’s no faulting the music. Stacking up easily against overseas releases, with enough original touches (like the classical peppered throughout), to help them stand out as they take on the rest of the world. Included is a revised version of their band theme tune Hate Made Me amongst some great newies. Top class.
