Horror Story: Bride of the Monster

By David Harris
I can see how Horror Story are a cult band. There is definitely a place for cheesy punk rock, but I don’t know if this album does them justice. Horror Story has definitely gone on my list as one to see live. The album production fits in with their ‘50s rock’n’roll vibe and they have made a huge name for themselves overseas, rating fifth best Kiwi band on latest e-fad MySpace.com. If they had someone like Rob Zombie doing production for them, the living dead couldn’t stop them. Their set is tight, their rock smooth, their jive is 100% Kiwi ingenuity released using their own Demon National label. With a reputation for having "a hard work ethic" (English mag ‘Metal Hammer’) they are the only non-US band on a 21 date tour there. They are known in Hungary and Japan, and my only question is where is the national support for our boys! This is one of those times where I say step it up NZ and check out their coming DVD. Thanks for the fourth album guys, can’t wait for the fifth.
