Eclipse: On Track

Eclipse bill themselves as the duo with the complete band sound and chances are if you frequent any of the RSAs, Workingmen’s or Cosmopolitan clubs in the lower North Island then you will probably have seen these guys perform. Chris Kirkland and Larry Taylor make up Eclipse and between them play just about everything on this recording - anything they don’t comes courtesy of a backing track. Their playing can’t be faulted and the selection of covers, which is heavy on material from the ’50s and ’60s, would seem entirely suited to a twirl round the dance floor on a Saturday night at the local RSA. Nothing radical then but as a sampler of their act this disc probably achieves what it set out to do.
