Recliner: Rest Room

Recliner are a fine group of musicians of varied experiences and intelligent sounds. The opening gentle guitar and spacious single note piano playing teases into the first song with the listener being led kindly through the CD to many likeable songs with strong arrangements and marvellous musicianship. My favourites are For You and Want To Love You, Belinda Bradley sings with conviction and truth on these two. She has many textures and ranges to her voice that she hasn’t yet learned to have command of. However, there are many times when she shows the listener that her chest voice has sparkle and intent and clarity and in these times, there is conviction. I hope these musicians, (Guy Wishart /guitars, Belinda Bradley and Darlene Te Young vocals, Vernon Rive/bass, Perry Bradley samples/sythesiser, Dave White/guitar and drummer Michael Te Young) won’t be washed away by the fickleness of the industry music.
