Mr Pudding: Instant Pudding

I became quite fond of Wendyhouse through the years for their refreshing musical comedy output. 'Instant Pudding' is an excursion by Wendyhouse main man Mr Pudding, compiled from a selection of 'daytapes', audio cassette material produced over the course of a day (hence the 'Instant'). This somewhat zen approach eliminates pretence and complex structure while ensuring the pieces are spontaneous. The daytape concept is partly attributed to extra dimensional artist Snake Beings - impeccable credentials for avant garde-ism that is more underground than underground. So is it just a bunch of noodling crap? Well no, not at all - there are conversational stream-of-consciousness lyrics and gently surreal experimental/ambient shapes and tones as well as more formal song structures. If you know Wendyhouse, expect a more intimate version of their most recent releases. I found it quite diverting and highly entertaining and after at least a decade and a half of musical output, we can be assured that Mr Pudding knows his way around a Casiotone.
