Beau Redding: Dime Box

By Karen q Temple
Various: Deep Needs
Originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, Beau Redding, now resident in NZ, has put together a laudable album of contemporary country rock/pop. Redding displays a maturity of songwriting with great lyrics, catchy choruses and hooks throughout. The arrangements are intelligent and uncluttered (featuring Dominic Blaazer of Smoothy on Hammond organ), although still creating a full sound. Produced by Nick Abbott, recorded at York Street, the production quality is great and the songs are diverse enough to keep your attention throughout the whole album, still with a common thread. Being a NZ music advocate, the only disappointment in this album for me is the proliferation of US place names. If you ever get the chance to catch Beau Redding live, it is well worth the effort. Great songs, great musicianship, great production! This is one disc that will certainly get plenty of airplay at the Temple.
