This first release from new punk/rock/hardcore label Kickstart features bands from all over New Zealand. Sprinkled in the line-up are tracks from ‘name’ bands Eight, Wash, and 4ManBob whose catchy ska rock Rockstar is one of the album highlights. Elsewhere on this sampler it’s very much an introductory affair. Strong rock tracks come from Zebulun, Fly By Wire and Ubiquitous. The acoustic offering from Season Pass stands out, as does the reggae/folk/rock of Moped. As with most compilations there’s stuff on here you would happily never have to hear again. But with mastering done in reputable studios like York St, Welsford Studios, Kog and Studios 301, there’s a quality to this release that’s not just confined to the better tracks.
