Roy Phillips: That's The Way 'Tis

“I’ve played more gigs than you’ve had hot dinners,” is the phrase that I suspect Roy Phillips could use with anyone if he wanted to. Heralding from Dorset in the UK and now residing in Queenstown, the former The Peddlers member has played with some of the truly big names. It’s quite a story, best told in his own words on www.royphillips.org. Phillips’ latest long awaited album has the master at full throttle - writing, arranging and performing and showing his keyboard no mercy. Recorded at Beyond Sound in Queenstown, the album covers a mix of jazz, fusion and ballads and oozes quality. This is top shelf stuff and all well done, however I can’t help wondering what it would sound like with a real band as opposed to the very good sequenced accompaniment. Phillips’ music has stood the test of time and with quality like this you can hear why. Related Information
