Phully: Phullyosophy Vol. 1
By Renee Jones
Phully, aka Paul Sweetman, has been on the New Zealand dance scene for a decent stretch now, DJing for 12 years, and producing for over 14, he's remixed the Headless Chickens and Del Ray System amongst other locals, and played in clubs around the world from Japan to Spain. After a series of 12"s and many compilation appearances, 'Phullyosophy Vol. 1' is Phully's first full-length album, on his own Lovefunk label. His tech-edged house lends itself to a range of styles and moods. Smooth laidback tracks sit nicely alongside dancefloor-fillers. Mongolian Skunk is a fun and funky opener, The Chunk is just that, and you'd be hard pressed to stay still when If I Am Right dropped on a big PA. Guest vocalists Teremoana Rapley, Miss Anon and Matt Lightbourn add vocal spice to the album. 'Phullyosophy Vol. 1' is a well rounded and polished album from one of our world class talents. Distribution is via Border.
