Autozamm: As For Now

I was intrigued by this album, because I had heard a lot about the group, without actually having seen them perform. I was familiar with Mike Carpinter's previous work in Wellington band Canvas, and first met him as a school-aged rocker. This album, by contrast, is nothing but mature. Autozamm are rockers of a high order: Their attitude, musicality and - ultimately - their tunes live up to the hype typically coming out of the industry these days. They are able to kick hard, hold a strong groove and ply you with unstoppable melody all at the same time. Autozamm members Nick Major (vocals and guitar), Ben Litchfield (bass and keys), Craig Mason (drums) and the aforementioned Carpinter (vocals and guitar) all share the songwriting credits, and with the help of a couple of guest players, they have created a signature rock sound. 'As For Now' was produced and engineered by Dave Holmes at Kog studios, and mastered by the great Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, The Cure, Beastie Boys) at Masterdisk in New York.
