Elemeno P: Love & Disrespect
By Emma Philpott
This is music for the fun lovin' masses. Elemeno P have never been ones to sleep on the job and with 'Love & Disrespect' they present 12 stonking originals which should get even the staunchest music critics tapping their feet. Like their live sound, their debut release is high energy - fast, fun and familiar after the first listen. Singer Dave Gibson's trademark vocal style doesn't waiver, gelling best in songs like Claim to Fame and The Benjamins (their classic "show me the money" track), and while he's not the next Tim Finn, it suits their pop-rock punk style. While more thoughtful tracks like Weed Out and Goodbye are still about girls, and still have those all important hooks. Judging by the groundswell caused by the four singles to date this album will be hanging around the charts for a long while. Let's hope they find time for a follow up!
