Detour 180: Fighting For You

By Nick Batt
This is Detour180's second album. The first resulted in five Christian radio hits and opened up touring opportunities in the USA and Australia and this album continues to build on that already impressive foundation. The group (Neill McCulloch, drums, Morgan Lawrence, guitars, Cain Coulton, guitars, Adrian Robertson, vocals, Jono Scarlet, bass/vocals) have a very tight, full bodied guitar-based rock sound, which has been masterfully captured by Jono Scarlet at Narrow Road Studios. Robertson's vocals are a real highlight. The songs have great hooks and good dynamics although a couple seem to finish abruptly. I was surprised with the inclusion of U2's All I Want Is You - not by their treatment of it, but given the quality of their own material I felt it was unnecessary. With groups producing albums of this quality our Christian music has a very bright future. 'Fighting for You' has been released by Parachute Music.
