Sean Clancy: Oceanic

Sean Clancy is a guitarist. It’s a short no nonsense statement but that’s what he does - play guitar. And it’s something he’s done for a while in numerous bands, not only here but also in Poland and other areas of Eastern Europe. Totally instrumental and full of riffs, ‘Oceanic’ highlights Clancy’s total mastery of the guitar in way you’ve probably not heard since the last Yngwie or Steve Vai album. Yes Sean likes to shred and when he’s not doing that he’s getting lyrical and melodic with some slow ballads. He also has a handle on all those metal/hard rock guitar tones and effects that come with the territory and he definitely has that speed guitar thing down. Technically it’s hard to fault Clancy’s playing as he is a very accomplished guitarist, but in today’s musically genred world it’s hard to see where this release fits.
