VARIOUS: Pick Of The Litter 2

The mutant baby of Auckland band Missing Teeth, Puppy Killer Records is a showcase for the wider NZ underground hardcore, punk and ska community and this compilation is the second offering from the label. Released in association with the band's home studio, the recording quality is variable with some rough diamonds in the mix and live cuts from Sticky Filth, The Rudies, The Bobbins and Evil Priest. At 33 tracks, it is certainly a comprehensive trawl through the pubs, clubs and band rooms of the land (with Auckland supplying two thirds of the contributing acts), and a veritable orgy of pogoing and shouting. Additionally, if you don't like a track, it's not likely to last long. There are some thematically curious inclusions from Garage Fodder (Foetus in the Frontyard) and Prison Deth Fux (Relax (I'm Gonna Rape You)) which probably makes this comp more attractive to punters and players already active in the scene rather than curious chart pop kids. With inclusions from current media darlings The Bleeders and The Mint Chicks, old hands Sticky Filth and a bunch of obscure up and comers, this will no doubt contain something of interest for anyone who enjoys their punk music rude, raw and writhing with maggots.
